The Strengthened Quality Standards are a significant step forward for the Australian aged care sector. Coming into effect on July 1stthis year, they describe what good care looks like and how registered aged careproviders deliver safe, high-quality care that meets the needs, goals andpreferences of individual older peoplein their care.
Person-centredness is central to the new AgedCare Act, Statement of Rights and the Strengthened Standards. The number of standards reduce from eight toseven from November 1st, with Standard one The Individual, foundational to all the other standards. Allstandards encapsulate person-centred principles including the new standard Food and Nutrition. They are moredetailed and measurable compared to the current standards and reflect communityexpectation for high quality aged care.

Learners can see how the standards play out in practical situations that accommodate variouslearning styles like text and visuals and interactive activities encourageparticipation by learners and enhance engagement with course content. Scenarios allow for immediate feedback onlearner choices, enabling them to identify areas for improvement and adjusttheir approach to care and service delivery.
