Injuries due to hazardous manual tasks are the most common and most costly type of work-related injury in workplaces, representing around one half of all workers' compensation costs. The back is the part of the body most vulnerable to injury from manual tasks. However, injuries can also occur to other parts of the body. In this course, we investigate the safe processing of manual tasks, which include the processes of lifting, pushing, pulling and carrying effectively any activity that requires the use of force to lift, lower, push, pull, carry, move, hold or restrain an object.
